Conspiracy theories: jerry jones devious plan to sign peterson

Well, we'll see what we can do, if we can make that happen

Amid all the National Felon League talk about woman beaters, baby beaters, and druggie players, there is an diabolical plot brewing in the background of all these stories, and because I know how the large corporations work, I realize that corruption in sports is prevalent almost as much as it is in politics. In the case of Adrian Peterson there is a much larger sub-plot brewing here.

But first, lets address my personal opinion and thoughts on his recent child abuse allegations. Let me preface my comments by saying that I do support corporal punishment, I support physical discipline upon children (not in excess), it is certainly vital in society. I endured several “whippings” with all sorts of objects including rulers, belts, extension cords, and many other objects. But there are multiple angles in which we must look and evaluate Adrian Peterson before judgment is handed down.

Physical abuse is far different than physical discipline. Adrian has publicly described his upbringing and why he personally feels that “whipping” his child is needed. The entire country is split down the middle in regards to this matter, where some feel it was excessive, others supported Adrian claiming similar tactics were used in their upbringing as well. The first thing we need to draw attention to are the marks that were left on the child’s legs. There were several identified “slashes” that appeared from a photo released up and down his legs. Now before we condemn him as THE ABUSER, let’s pump the breaks. Myself, being a fellow fair skinned male, knows the ease in which marks show up on a fair toned body. In other words, a hard foul in a pick-up game could look a lot worse than it actually felt. If all we are using the pictures as our only tool to assess Adrian as an abuser, than that is not enough.

The second theme that I have heard uttered frequently over the past two weeks has been an emphasis on the child’s age. In my youthful opinion it is imperative that a child receives an adequate amount of discipline as soon as they are able to comprehend right from wrong. Adrian is attempting to establish the tone for his son and understands that once a child reaches a certain age, physical discipline will no longer be efficient. So although the force behind the punishment may be in question, intent cannot be.

Without diving too deep in Peterson’s personal life, there also lies a cultural issue here that may be purposely ignored. The mother of Adrian’s son is a Caucasian woman. I am highlighting this not to say discipline is not accepted across racial demographics, but to highlight that Adrian's joint-custody of this child impacts the level of leniency that he may have been allotted under the care of his mother. What this means is that the black child lives with his white mother for the majority of the time and merely visits his father at times. We do not know the extent that his mother uses physical punishment, but we can assume that the parenting styles of Adrian and his white ex-wife could indeed be far from the same. Thus giving Peterson the notion that he feels he must make-up for time not spent with his child--which could lead to excessive punishment at times.

Controversial sub-plot

Let’s rewind the tapes to the Jerry Jones/Adrian Peterson phone scandal. This is what was said on the phone

Jerry: "Well, we'll see what we can do, if we can make that happen”

[Possibly in response to Adrian saying he would like to be a Dallas Cowboy]

Jerry:  "Hmm hmm ... I'd like that, too ... Well, we're talking pig Latin here, but let's see if we can do that ... We're talking pig Latin here, but let's see what we can do about that. OK, Adrian, thanks."

Little by little major sponsors of both the Minnesota Vikings and Adrian Peterson are attempting to remove/cut ties with the organization and superstar. This will inevitably lead to the roster cut of Adrian. Although Peterson may be arguably the most valuable player on any given team, sponsorship money trumps all, and if enough Companies withdrew their sponsor dollars in the team, the Vikings will part with their star running back. There have been reports of other baby mothers (of children fathered by Adrian) who are popping up sporadically claiming their child was also abused. Could Jerry Jones be behind this hiring a private investigator looking into Adrian’s Past? This would be the power move that could land him in a Cowboys uniform next year. The Panthers have utilized their “exempt” clause on Hardy and it is possible under the new player behavior rules that Peterson could also be placed on the exempt list. The Adrian Peterson abuse scandal must be monitored closely, because not only does a career hang in the balance, but a possible franchise merger may be in the making behind the scenes.
