YBG is a movement born from the desire to increase the Black presence on the golf scene. We wish to showcase Black talent within Golf, perpetuate enthusiasm around the sport within the Black community, and bring informative and inspiring content to Black golfers and aspiring golfers. When 'The Masters' Tournament was created in 1933, Black people were only allowed to be caddies. In 1961, Charlie Sifford became the first Black golf athlete to be allowed to participate on the PGA tour, officially integrating the sport of Golf. Similar to other gaps between the Black and White communities, the sport of Golf has been far considered a predominantly White sport, with very little Black representation in the media and on social media. We wish to foster a welcoming environment for people of all walks of life to share their unique Golf experiences and connect with others who love Golf. The Young Black Golfer Network and Initiative aspires to become the central hub for everything Golf among the Black community and our allies. YBG hopes to make Golf an accessible sport for Black youth and is committed to increasing awareness and opportunities within our communities. Become a part of YBG .
